This is a great instructional video from a trained veterinarian on how to clean a dogs ear properly using vinegar, water and a Q-tip or cotton ball.
In the video she discussed what to use and mostly how to use it.
She does not however explain the ratio of water to vinegar. Always best to make it too weak rather than too strong otherwise it could really annoy you dog. Potentially even drying out their ear and causing a bigger problem.
Gross but good example of what they should and shouldn't look like |
UI usually buy dog ear cleaning pads. Then you don;t have to worry about getting the right mixture of solution. They are cheap, portable and disposable. I usually buy this brand of Ear Cleansing Pads .
If your not a big fan of pads and prefer Q-tips or cotton balls there is a premade solution to clean dogs ear with. It has a ton of excellent reviews and is really cheaper than a bottle of vinegar. EcoEars Dog Cleaning Infection Formula can also be used to clean other areas of the dog as well.
