A Very Confused Yet Brave Bulldog Lifeguard Saves His Brother

Most Bulldogs know that they are not made for the water. In fact they sink like a rock. Jäger the English bulldog seems to know this. Jager refuses to let her brother play in the pool, even though he's wearing his own little life vest. Every time Jager's bother tries to get back in to the pool Jager immediately "rescues" him and drags him back to safety.

French Bulldogs Are Quickly Becoming The Designer Dog Of Choice In The UK and US

In the past other dog breeds have been more popular than the french bulldog but the "Gloucester Citizen" reports that they are beginning to become the most popular breed of choice. Its not hard to understand since they have so much more character and aren't as yappy as a chihuahua's generally.

Historically other breeds have been more popular like the poodle mixes like: yorkipoo, labradoodle, maltipoo, golden doodle, shnoodle, and a few others like chihuahua, la-shi,or puggle. But lately especially in the world of celebrities there has been a need breed taking over. Thanks to social media and actors like Tom Hardy, Sam Smith, Hugh Jackman and even Dwayne 'the Rock' Johnson.

Numbers from a kennel club there show a dramatic increase of 458% in 5 years.

This huge jump in demand is actually worrying since puppy mills have a tendency to start breeding the most popular pups. Typically French bulldogs while being an excellent breed can be a little more costly than other breeds usually costing between 1500-8000$ US. In addition they have a few more health issues as well like degenerative myelopathy, hereditary cataracts and neurological disease." If unscrupulous breeders start breeding them they will likely create an even unhealthier breed of the dog.

"The Rock" French Bulldog Just Died: What You Can Learn From It.

Dwayne the Rock Johnson's adopted french bulldog "Brutus" died last September. Dwayne had originally adopted Brutus from an animal shelter. Brutus died after eating poisonous mushroom while on a daily walk in a park.

Brutus never had the best of luck after almost drowning in a pool last Labour day. Johnson shared with his readers that he had to jump in and save the little guy, who just couldn't perfect the "doggy" paddle in time. this time however the rock was a little more serious.
"Another reminder we have to live and love as greatly as we can today, because tomorrow is never guaranteed. At approximately 11:15pm last night myself and @laurenhashianofficial had to make the painful decision to end Brutus' suffering by taking him off of life support and sending his soul to pup heaven. I held his lil' paw as he was finally at peace. As all puppies and dogs do, he ate a mushroom while playing outside with his brother Hobbs. This mushroom happened to have a lethal toxicity and within hours it was rapidly destroying his liver and immune system to the point of no return. I encourage all of you out there to be mindful of mushrooms in your yards, parks or anywhere outside your dogs play. What looks innocent, can be deadly to your lil' family members. Thank you Dr. Deckelbaum and Dr. West and the incredibly caring nurses and staff at The Animal Medical Center At Cooper City. We'll always love you Brutus.. and you'll always be my lil' main man and rough housing Brute."

Although this was tragic accident we can learn a few things about it and hopefully prevent another death like this. Some symptoms of mushroom poisoning in dogs include:

Vomiting
Diarrhea
Abdominal pain
Weakness
Lethargy
Yellowing of the skin (jaundice)
Uncoordinated movements
Excessive drooling (ptyalism)
Seizures
Coma
