Bulldog Swallows Record 7 Rubber Ducks
COLORADO SPRINGS -
A Colorado Springs pet owner is warning fellow pet owners about the dangers of animals swallowing small objects after her bulldog swallowed seven rubber ducks.
Sassie the bulldog had surgery after she swallowed seven small rubber ducks around the same time she gave birth to nine puppies, her owner Lynette Marchetti told News 5 via Facebook.
According to a Facebook post, Dr. Germeroth at High Country Veterinary Hospital said Sassie has recovered well -- but that this incident should serve as a warning to other pet owners out there.
Marchetti said the rubber ducks and anything else Sassie may be capable of swallowing will stay far out of reach from now on for her own safety. Hopefully, Sassie will stay busy with her nine new puppies, and far away from the rubber duckies.

Skin Folds: The Number One Thing New Bulldog Owners Neglect
A Bulldog puppy's wrinkles are usually shallow and easy to keep clean.
When you think of the words "wrinkle care," the first thing that might come to mind is a special heat cycle on your clothes dryer. If your heart has been stolen by a bulldog, however, you owe it to your furrowed friend to learn everything you can about the special grooming that this delightful breed requires to stay happy and healthy. While your bully has a short coat that generally needs minimal care, when it comes to the folds around the face, the bulldog's beauty is more than just skin deep. There are health issues that can arise if the wrinkles in your bulldog's face are not properly and routinely cleansed. Always consult your veterinarian for your bulldog health needs.
Necessity
Your bulldog's sagging skin and undershot jaw gives them that adorable, concerned expression. But deep inside those wrinkles, moisture can accumulate and create the perfect breeding ground for bacteria. This infection-prone area can quickly evolve into a condition known as fold dermatitis. The wrinkles in your bulldog's face must be cleansed regularly and dried thoroughly to ensure the skin stays healthy. It's easier to use preventative care than to undergo diagnostics and medical treatment for skin diseases, which can be costly, painful and time consuming.
Routine Care
For routine care, use a warm washcloth free of shampoo or soap to remove buildup, saliva or food from the wrinkles. You can also use a baby wipe with lanolin and aloe. Glide the cloth gently in, through and around the wrinkles, paying special attention to the deep nose wrinkles on the top and side of your bully's head while avoiding the eye area. If your vet advises, use a soap or shampoo. Mostly likely they'll recommend a gentle soap with germicidal properties that can be purchased from your vet or pet store. After the application of soap or shampoo, rinse thoroughly to remove all traces of residue. Dry your bully's wrinkles with a soft, dry cloth. For extra protection against moisture, use cornstarch, baby powder or a specialty grooming powder in the wrinkles.
Frequency
If you begin cleaning your bulldog's wrinkles when your bully is still a pup, they'll get used to the grooming process quickly. As your bulldog gets older, the wrinkles may become deeper and problems may occur with more frequency. According to certified veterinary technician Kimm Wuestenberg, dogs with skin folds should be wiped at least once a day while Bulldog Voice.com says it's better to clean your bulldog's face wrinkles more than you think you should. The frequency in which you clean your dog's face wrinkles really depends on your dog. For example, if your dog is a messy eater or water slurper, you may want to wipe immediately after eating or drinking. Overweight dogs are at greater risk of developing a skin infection because the excess fat makes the wrinkles more pronounced. Only you can tell if your bulldog's face wrinkles require more attention and care.
Symtoms of Infection
Fold dermatitis symptoms include excessive moisture in the wrinkles, a foul odor, and redness of the skin or discharge from the folds. If your bulldog is suffering from fold dermatitis, the Merck Veterinary Manual advises to clip the hair so you can access the skin, then clean the folds one or two times each day with a mild skin cleanser or with a product containing benzoyl peroxide. Dry the folds thoroughly with a towel or a blow dryer set on a cool temperature, and then apply a topical diaper rash cream to the area. See your veterinarian first, however, to make sure this treatment is effective and safe for your pet. Deep skin infections also respond well to medical treatment such as topical steroids, or oral or topical antibiotics prescribed by your vet, according to Wuestenberg.

Did An English Bulldog Just Win A Dog Agility Contest?
JEFFERSON COUNTY – When you think agility, we’re guessing the last thing on your mind might be: bulldog.
“Most people who get a bulldog want a couch potato to love or at their feet,” said Dorothy Wysaski, Apricot’s owner. “You don’t get a bulldog to do athletic things but I love to do these athletic things.”
Years ago, Wysaski, a veterinarian, had an agility course built in her backyard to help another dog recover from surgery. All of a sudden she became addicted to agility, and started to train her own English bulldogs.
“The big thing with a bulldog is they don’t do things to please you,” she said. “They do what they want to do.” So food comes in handy when it comes to coaxing them to complete the course. Dorothy has used that motivation to train a whole class of champion bulldogs. They may not win in their class, but Dorothy says her dogs have long been the top bulldogs in agility in the country.
“There’s a bulldog hall of fame for performance, for doing this sort of thing,” she said. “(Apricot’s) dad is in it, her mom is in it, her older sister is in it, her aunt is in it and she is already in it.” In fact, Apricot has been the top bulldog in agility for three years running. She added two more qualification ribbons at a competition on Friday and hopes to add two more on Sunday. She’ll continue the agility competition at the Foothills Sports Complex on Sunday.

Bulldog Mascots Team Up To Run For President
With about eight months left until Election Day, two surprise candidates are joining the presidential race.
In advance of Saturday’s noon matchup between the Georgetown Hoyas and the Butler Bulldogs, the two programs joined forces to announce Georgetown’s Jack the Bulldog and Butler Blue have teamed up for a run at the White House. And the pair’s campaign video is pretty convincing that these are the candidates to make America a good boy again.
“These Bulldogs are unwavering champions of education,” the video’s narrator states. “Their paws are very well-connected and their instincts demonstrate strong vision. You sounded a whistle of alarm and called these dogs home, America. Now it’s time to mark our territory this November. Make the ‘paw-triotic’ choice and side with the canine team.”
And Jack and Butler Blue would be natural fits in The White House. President Calvin Coolidge owned a bulldog named Boston Beans and President Warren Harding owned an English bulldog named Old Boy. It’s not clear if the pair would work as a duo once elected or if one would accept the office of vice president, although based on these “Canine Party” campaign shirts, available in the Georgetown University bookstore, it would appear that the D.C. native might be making an early play for the Oval Office.

Bulldog Wrestles With Raccoons
A cute video has emerged form the United States of two tame raccoons wrestling a dog on a bed. The orphaned raccoons were raised alongside the American Bulldog and often play together.
The True Differences Between Male and Female Bulldogs
Both male and female Bulldogs are loyal, loving companions that make amazing pets. The majority of Bulldogs also have a fairly calm, level temperament and demeanor.
The overall characteristics of English bulldogs are very much the same in both the males and females. For the most part, they have fairly similar behavior traits.
However, Bulldogs are well known for each having their own individual
personalities, so there is never any ‘absolutes’ with the breed. But
the general differences in Bulldogs will normally only be seen when
another (unfamiliar) dog is around.
When it comes to other dogs, some Bulldogs will show a more dominant personality, while others will become very submissive. This can also change with each dog from situation to situation.
And believe it or not, the males are far less likely to show aggression towards each other than the females. It is very rare that there is ever a scuffle between male Bulldogs.

And believe it or not, the males are far less likely to show aggression towards each other than the females. It is very rare that there is ever a scuffle between male Bulldogs.
The males are generally more laid back and usually want nothing to do
with any type of aggression. So, when you get two of them together,
you’re more likely to find them napping together rather than fighting.
In my own personal experience with Bulldogs, my females have been
known to have their fair share of feuds. And while I have never, ever
had a female (or male) be aggressive with me, my family or any human
for that matter, they do tend to have hormonal mood swings that can
cause them to be extra grouchy with the other dogs.
Female Bulldogs also tend to be more energetic and high-strung. This
can quickly lead to them getting fed up with another dog when being
sniffed, licked or jumped on.
Although, with both the males and females, one thing is definitely for sure… they both require large amounts of attention and affection. Most Bulldogs would spend the majority of their day in your lap if given the opportunity.

Overall, if you are trying to decide between adopting a male or female Bulldog, here is a basic guideline:
Males-
Great for retirees or anyone without children. Once mature, they are
happy to laze around the house day and night doing little more than
eating and taking the occasional trip outside.
Females- Better suited for children as they are (physically) able them to keep with them. They are also usually more affection and attentive to little ones.

American Kennel Club Says French Bulldog The Most Popular Breed in NYC
French bulldogs moved from No. 9 to No. 6 last year and became the

at No. 6 during the 1910s. They weren't even top 50 as recently as
2002, but TV shows, movies and celebrity owners, including Martha
Stewart, Hugh Jackman and Carrie Fisher, have helped spur their
renaissance.

eighth place in 2014, it rose three spots to no. 5 last year. The German
Shepherd fell out of the top five to land at no. 6.
"The Bulldog
breeds have a strong hold on New York City,” said AKC Vice President
Gina DiNardo. “The Frenchie and its English cousin continue to hold on
to the top spots in the Big Apple, keeping the wildly popular Labrador
Retriever at bay."
